In the season finale, Onalaska outlasted Central 1-0, winning a matchup of the last two unbeaten boys soccer teams in the MVC. The Hilltoppers win the conference.

"It's great. We wanted to come out here and send a message," Hilltoppers sophomore Mitchell Schaller said.

Schaller scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute, the only goal of the game.

"We set a goal at the beginning of the year. This is what we wanted to do and we did it," he said.

Onalaska wins its first conference title since 2010, finishing the regular season with perfect 6-0 conference record. Central finishes 5-1.

"We have a good chance of making it to state," Schaller said. "That was our goal, we want to get there, get a good push in."

The conference tournament begins Tuesday, Oct. 8.
