The La Crosse college volleyball programs a combined
20-and-2 to start this season.
It makes for a great Coulee Cup meeting tonight between
number-five in the nation Viterbo and 18th-ranked
V-Hawks winning this intra-city contest...
every year since 2009.
we pick this one up in game number 2.
Natalie Geidel winds up and gets the kill.
V-hawks take game 2......25-18.
and lead 2-0.
game number 3
Eagles off to a hot start..
Jessica Jablonski with the block.
UWL leads 8-7.
Mackenzie Rechner with the kill...
Eagles take game 3...25-22.
to the 4th set.
Amelia Grahn just squeezes this one in for the ace!
V-Hawks grab a 1 point lead....19-18.
and they wouldn't look back from there..

The Coulee Cup stays at Viterbo.

it's exciting, ya know, we want to showcase volleyball

are excited for the win
Winona State volleyball opens NSIC play tomorrow night
The Warriors off to their best start in program history.
With more here is News 8's Charlie Clifford.
Nine Warrior wins in nine tries.
And the 9th best team in the country..
Still yet to drop the first or second set of any match
9th is a good way to get in the door.
It is a good way to get on the map.
But it is not really a big thing with the team.
We just get in the gym and work hard everyday.
Outside hitter Taylor Goar GORE, an all-Northern Sun
first team selection as sophomore despite a nagging
Already owns ten plus kills in six seperate matches
Goar's the leader of an impressive group of juniors..
That walks into one of the toughest conference schedules
of any sport in the country.
It is frusturating to know that every game we have
to step up our game.
No matter how good we play, nothing is good enough.
We know we have to show up every night.
It makes every night meaningful.
Doesn't matter if it is the 16th team or 4th ranked
team -- you better bring your A game.
I think that is why the Northern Sun has had a lot
of success in volleyball.
Joe Getzin's goal for the regular-season:
If that's the case, a second straight 20-win season
is a good bet.
And after falling in the NSIC title game and narrowly
missing out on the school's first NCAA tournament
bid in 20-15.
Just the experience of being there.
At that level and knowing that we are good enough
to play at that level.
That was our taste of it which gives me a lot of confidence
to take the next step and make the tournament.
