New era begins for Melrose-Mindoro football

Melrose-Mindoro Football 2017 preview

MELROSE, WI - The defending Dairyland Conference champs begin a new era this season.

Troy Lockington is in his first year as full time head coach for the Mustangs after roaming the sidelines with the interim tag last season.

Luckily for Lockington, the cupboard isn't empty in year one.  Melrose-Mindoro returns 9 starters, including leading rusher Jeremy Anderson and leading tackler Evan Peterson.

The team says the transition to a new coach has been smooth and they are ready for the season to get started.

"Always making sure we are going 100-percent which is good we should be.  We rely on him and he's going to do a great job," Jeremy Anderson said.

"Nice being able to put my own spin on a few things.  You know, taking things the way we wanted to.  Hopefully the kids are buying in and we are on our way to having a great season," Troy Lockington said.
