HOLMEN, WI - When you are a team playing with confidence, it seems like anything and everything will go your way. The Holmen Legion baseball team is a very confident group.
Post 248 returning home from Merrill, Wisconsin with the AA summer legion state title in hand, the second time in team history.
After a sub .500 record during the spring high school season, Holmen is 25-7 this summer.
They will travel 5 and a half hours to Wahpeton, North Dakota for the Division 2 national tournament, beginning on Thursday. And make no mistake about it, Holmen is on a mission to get their hands on another trophy.
"We are feeling great right now. We made a good run in the regional tournament leading up to the state tournament. And winning state is probably the best feeling I've ever had. So we are looking to make a good run in the national tournament," Ben Byom said.
"We've got a great pitching staff. Our defense is fantastic. We all know we can hit the ball real well. Whether we put it all together or not will be the real test. But we definitely know what our strengths are," Owen Gilbertson said.
"This is by far the most confident team I've ever been on. The coaches, the players, everyone believes we can every game. No matter who we are facing, we believe we have a great shot. Going to be some great competition, hoping to make a really good run at it and hopefully win," Austin Braund said.
