Viroqua senior Mitch Stalsberg is named the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association Player of the Year, the association announced early Saturday morning.

Stalsberg, a Winona State recruit, struck out a WIAA state record 21 batters in Thursday's state semifinal game.

He is joined on the WBCA first team by Holmen senior Jeren Kendall, a Vanderbilt recruit who was drafted in the 30th round by the Boston Red Sox.

Fellow Holmen Viking Greg Rooney is named to the second team, as is Aquinas junior Rudy Rott. Central senior infielder Peyton Fellenz and BRF infielder Nate Slenczka are on the third team. Onalaska's Alex Teal was named honorable mention.
