The La Crosse Loggers have been eliminated from the first half title with a loss to the Madison Mallards.
The loggers lost 2-1 in Game 1 of a home-and-home double header.
It will be a big Monday for the Loggers.
The Northwoods League South Division First Half title, and a guaranteed playoff spot, is with their reach. They just need some help.
La Crosse beat Battle Creek 5-3 Sunday night; Lakeshore also won. That means the Loggers trail Lakeshore by two games, with two games to play.
Both teams play twice Monday: La Crosse has a home-and-home series against Madison; Lakeshore has a home-and-home series against Kenosha.
If the Loggers beat Madison twice and Lakeshore loses both of its games against Kenosha, La Crosse would win the first half title by virtue of a tiebreaker.
The Loggers' first game is in Madison at 12:05; the second and final game is at Copeland Park at 7:05. As part of a unique day-night doubleheader in two different cities, the Loggers will host "Lunch and a Ballgame." Fans will be able to watch the contest live on the new video board. Copeland Park will open at 11:00 a.m. and admittance into the park for the noon broadcast will be free.
Once the game is completed at Warner Park in Madison, both teams will board their respective buses and travel to La Crosse to play game No. 2. That game happens to be Max Scherzer Bobblehead Day.
