Loggers fall at Rapids, half game back

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. - Jackson Slaid's walk-off RBI in the bottom of the ninth inning sent the Loggers to a 2-1 loss at Wisconsin Rapids Saturday night.

La Crosse's Kevin Zak hit a solo home run, but that was the only offense of the night for the Loggers (19-12).

Lakeshore beat Green Bay 6-5, while Madison lost at Battle Creek, 4-1. That means the Chinooks move into first place in the Northwoods League's South Division by half a game, with four games remaining in the first half of the season.

La Crosse plays at Wisconsin Rapids again Sunday at 5:05 and Monday at 7:05. They return home to face Madison on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
