LA CROSSE, Wis. -

In front of a sold-out crowd at Copeland Park, La Crosse couldn't rally back from an 8-run deficit. The Mallards cruised to a 12-2 victory to win the First Half South Division Title.

La Crosse and Madison began the day tied for the division lead.

The Mallards scored one run in the second inning, two in the 4th, five in the 5th and one in the 6th take an 8-0 lead. La Crosse's Mike Nadratowski hit a sac fly RBI in the 5th to make it 8-2, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

The Mallards secured a playoff spot, while La Crosse will turn its attention to winning the second half title. The Loggers begin the second half at Wisconsin Rapids on July 4.

The announced attendance at Copeland Park was 3,557.
