LA CROSSE, Wis. -

The seventh inning summed up Logan's day against Waunakee in the WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal.

Trailing 3-1, the Rangers loaded up the bases with only one out. A hard hit squeeze bunt left Mitch Schreiner as an easy out at home plate. And Tanner Pierzina popped out in foul territory beyond first base for the final out of the game.

"Yeah it was a tough loss," said Logan head coach Greg Meinertz.  "Tight game, we made some mistakes, we didn't execute some bunts we should of, and we left 12 runners on base."

"Baseball is a quick game and a short game, a game of inches. They gave us opportunities to win and we didn't execute those opportunities."

Waunakee scored one run in the second, third, and fourth innings to build up a 3-0 lead. A Schreiner RBI single in the fifth ended up being the only Rangers run of the ballgame.

"We had a pretty good season," said Meinertz. "We weren't picked to do a whole lot early on and we really worked hard and they got better. What I saw was a ton of improvement out of this team up to this point in the year."
