La Crosse resident finalist for Packers FAN Hall of Fame

La Crosse's own finalist for the...

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - La Crosse's Karen Troyanek is calling for the bootleg.

The 80-year old mother of two and foster mom of eight is running behind her husband John and seven grandkids, approaching the holy grail of Green Bay Packers fandom.

"My favorites were, of course, Bart Starr, Ray Nitchske, Bob Long and Reggie White," Troyanek said. "I could not believe it when Reggie passed. He was so wonderful. It was awful."

Earlier this winter, Troyanek's son Tom was in trouble with his mother. One letter to the Packers is all it took.

"I said, "Geez Tom, everyone around here loves the Packers. I am not any different than anyone else."

Troyanek's obsession with sports dates back to her days as the first female coach in La Crosse little league baseball history. And then there is the bet with the girlfriends on her 70th birthday, that ended at a tattoo parlor with a Packers logo.

"I will never get another tattoo. That hurts."
