The La Crescent girls soccer team is getting ready for its State run Thursday, when they take on Mankato West in Saint Louis Park, Minn. The winner heads to the Metrodome.
"We're practicing harder, you can tell, and we're all wanting the same result. We want to keep going on from our first game and go on," said junior midfielder Karlee Onstad.
The Lancers are quick to point out that their run is a team effort. However, there's one trooper that stands out at practice. Junior midfielder Jenna Mickschel broke her wrist in the game at Byron. She missed two weeks. Now, she plays with a cast.
"When I got back, I was not used to it," Mickschel said. "I was off-balance, I had just been out of it for so long. This new weight on my arm, it kind of just set me off but I got back into it and then my team accepted me back in."
Thursday's game is at 5:30.
