Most teams are lucky to have a starting quarterback that has two years of action under center. La Crescent's Levi Massman has four.
Massman saw time as a freshman, then started his sophomore, junior and now senior seasons. That kind of experience can rub off on the players around him.
"It's a lot of confidence. He has a lot of confidence. The team has confidence in him to keep him healthy and he'll definitely help lead this team," said senior running back/linebacker Austin DeBoer.
"We're good together," said Massman. "We've been together for the last four years. It's just fun, you know exciting. It's what I look forward to all fall."
Another season, another year of Massman under center, another change on the sidelines.
For the third time in four years, La Crescent has a new head coach: former Spring Grove head coach Brad Groth.
"I thought about that when I came," Groth said. "This is the third head coach in four years for these seniors and so I didn't want to change too much up."
"Kind of different with learning all the defenses, learning new offenses, because this will be my third offense that I've learned in four years and it's kind of the same old routine," said senior wide receiver/defensive back Zack Kadlec.
"It's a lot to take in, but it's fun," DeBoer said. "The coaches here are good guys. I think we'll be good this year."
