It's one of the most impressive streaks in all of Wisconsin high school football.
The De Soto Pirates have now qualified for the playoffs 18 straight seasons and counting.
"We definitely have to keep the streak going, that is one of our big goals here," said senior Alex Stevenson. "Every year we come in and say we have to keep the streak going otherwise it's going to be our class that has the bad name."
Over the next couple of months we'll see how difficult of a task extending the streak to 19 years will be. De Soto will be a young team returning only three starters from 2013.
"It's kind of weird you know, we've always had a lot of guys coming back but we'll make it work," said senior Troy Paulsrud, who along with Stevenson and Mike Finney make up the returning trio.
Ev Wick has been head coach for the past eleven trips to the playoffs. Despite the youth, he likes what he's seen through the first week of practice.
"The kids are doing a good job of working hard. They know our system. So it may take a little while but I think in the end they'll get there."
