CALEDONIA, Min. -

They were all impressive marks.

Six straight trips to state. Three consecutive state championships. A winning streak of 36 games.

All came to a crashing end in an overtime playoff loss to Chatfield.

Senior quarterback Austin Bauer hopes to lead Caledonia back to familiar territory in 2014: the state tournament.

"If you work hard enough, if you do the right things, you should make it to state. Really making it to state is the goal you want to get and obviously if you get that far, might as well take the state championship."

The Warriors return 14 starters from last year's team. They will have a new player running the offense in Bauer.

"Right now Austin Bauer is going to be our leader at quarterback," said 5th year head coach Brent Schroeder. "He's a senior, he got some reps last year under Mason DeMorett and really worked well with him. He's been a great leader all season and we're expecting him to take the reigns for us."

Austin takes the move to quarterback in stride.

"It's always kind of been what I thought I'd do, guess it's pretty cool to start now. Nothing too special other than before, just play the game I guess."
