Defending MVC Champs Moving On

HOLMEN, Wis. - 2013 was a season of many great memories for the Holmen football program. They went undefeated in the regular season advancing to Level 3 of the WIAA playoffs.

But that is all in the past for the defending Mississippi Valley Conference champions.

"We've been preaching hey you've got to make your own memories this year and if we get better every day, like we've been preaching we get better every day, we'll be okay," said 28th year head coach Steve King.

Holmen graduated an extremely talented senior class led by Dillon Martinez and Greg Rooney who are now playing NCAA II football.

However in 2014 they still return five starters on offense and three on defense.

Camryn Zimmerman is one of the players looking to step up as he's expected to become the team's new starter at quarterback.

"Well, it's definitely different, a different mindset," said Zimmerman. "But I've got a lot of faith in these guys, my lineman and the halfbacks are definitely working hard."

"I know he'll do good, I believe in him.  One hundred percent, I'm behind him ... well in front of him," said senior offensive lineman Chuck Serauskas.

Zimmerman takes over for Tyler Anderson.

"Tyler was a great quarterback, a great leader, kind of just soaked up information from him."

"He's got big shoes to fill with Tyler you know, but he's working hard," said senior Steven Anderson. "He worked hard in the off season to learn the plays because we call it from the line and Cam's doing a great job right now."
