G-E-T hopes to build off successful 2016 campaign

G-E-T Red Hawks 2017 Football Preview

It was a great 2016 season for G-E-T. The Red Hawks finished 5-0 in the Coulee Conference and ended up advancing to Level 3 of the playoffs losing to eventual state champion Saint Croix Central.

Now the question in 2017 is can G-E-T repeat that success?

"We're just going to take it one game at a time again this year," said senior lineman Nathan Riehle. "The goal is to win conference but we've got to take it one game at a time."

Seven starters return on offense and eight on defense. Also eight of those starters are returning first team All-Coulee selections. Bruising fullback Butch Haines is one of the few players head coach Jon Steffenhagen needs to find a replacement for.

"I know Butch is gone but we got a really nice fullback returning in Connor Jacobs. Not quite as big as Butch but he runs the fullback position really well. And of course Ben Behan is back. We probably have four or five talented running backs this year and I'm really excited about that."
