49 games into the season, the Brewers have the second-most wins in baseball.
Former Brewers catcher and West Salem native Damian Miller, however, said he saw this coming.
"I was fortunate enough to go to Spring Training and I could witness first hand what kind of talent they have and what kind of personnel they have," Miller said at a ceremony in which the West Salem High School baseball field was named in his honor.
"Sometimes you can see the talent, but what goes on in the clubhouse is a different story. It looks like they gel really well. Everybody gets along. A lot of good personalities. So far they've been playing great baseball and it's nice to see."
Miller, who served as an in-studio analyst for News 8 during Milwaukee's 2011 postseason run, said he's confident the team can maintain its hot play.
"I definitely think they can keep it up. They have the pitching all the way through, from the starters through the bullpen. It's just a matter of maintaining health. They're going to swing the bats, for sure they're going to score runs. I mean Ryan Braun hasn't played much lately; they're still scoring runs. So they got a lot of good players.
"There's no doubt in my mind they can win that Central Division."
