The Coulee Region Chill have opened up practice this week as they put in their final work before the start of the new season.
The 2013-2014 regular season begins a week from Wednesday at the annual NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota.
But before that, CRC head coach A.J. Degenhardt is going to see his team get put through a great test. The Chill will host a home exhibition game Saturday against defending NAHL champions Amarillo.
"I know they got some returners and they've re-loaded pretty well with their tenders and draft picks," says Degenhardt.
"So it's going to be a good test for us right away. We're excited to get all the guys on the ice against that level of competition and kind of see where we stack up before we get to Blaine."
ROSTER IS SET
Onalaska graduate Jesse Tredinnick returns this season for Coulee Region. Degenhardt has high expectations for the one player on this year's roster with ties to the area.
"We're looking for big things out of him, we think this could be a good year for him and we're looking for him to be a little bit more of a leader in the locker room. Outspoken guy and kind of just carry the message that we're trying to send to the kids and reinforce what we're saying."
Another Onalaska graduate's bid to make the team fell short. Gabe Flood did not survive the final cut. Degenhardt said Flood had a good camp but was on the outside looking in.
