The Central boys track and field team won its fourth MVC title in a row Saturday at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex.
"It feels really good," Central senior Sawyer Smith said, who won the long jump for the third straight year. "All four years we've been here, our group of guys have gotten first place, and this was definitely, by far, an uneasy one. We knew we could win if we do everything right, but if not, we got some trouble. But we did everything right today."
Other event champions include Tomah's Byron Neal, who won the boys 100 meter dash in 10.82 seconds, a new conference record. Aquinas' Michael Christianson won his third 1600 meter run in a row, winning with a time of 4:37. Also, in the 4x400 relay, Tomah edged out Onalaska in a photo finish.
On the girls side, Logan won its first conference meet title since 2008. In the 100 meter dash, the Rangers' Chloe Malin won with a time of 12.90 seconds, and teammate Tore Washa finished second. Other event champions include Central's Violet Weibel, who defended her 1600 meter run title with a time of 5:29.
The Coulee Conference also held its conference meet. The West Salem boys won for the third time in four years, while the Viroqua girls defended its title.
