Wisconsin natives excited about playing for Alvarez

LOS ANGELES - For all players, there is great pride in leading your team to the Rose Bowl. But even more so for the Wisconsin natives on the Badgers, who now get to play the game under a legend: Barry Alvarez.

"That's kind of what you are always thinking about coming to Wisconsin and playing for a coach like that," Ashwaubenon native Mike Taylor said. "Just to be able to play for him in the last game at the Rose Bowl, it's kind of his forte coaching his teams in the Rose Bowl and we want to do everything we can to pull out a win for him."

"You get a real feel for the pride that the state has for the Wisconsin football team," Medford native Ethan Hemer said. "There's a real backing and there are some real crazy fans out there that just make you feel that this means a lot, being here and being able to experience this is something I've only dreamed of."

With a win, Alvarez would be a perfect 4-0 in Rose Bowl games, which would tie him with former Ohio State coach Woody Hayes for the most wins by a Big Ten coach in the "Granddaddy of them all."
