ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) -

On Monday the Aquinas girls golf team accomplished something no team had done before in program history. Qualify for the WIAA state touranment.

"I was in shock. The whole team was in shock. We just could not believe that we may it down to Madison," said Annie Balduzzi.

Balduzzi was the sectional meet medalist firing a 79 leading the Aquinas charge to advance to University Ridge Golf Course. She'll be there for a second straight year after qualifying as an individual her freshman season.

"Annie always does so well, that it takes pressure off the rest of the girls and we kind of just have to do our small part in helping out the team," said junior Olivia Fox. "It is really reassuring to know that."

Fourth year head coach Andy Foley says the team field is loaded but he believes in Balduzzi and the Blugolds.

"I like where we are at. We are peaking at the right time. We are in a good place, the girls know what is left and it is all about emptying the tank now and putting it all out there."
