Wisconsin Woodchucks owner selling team
WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- The owner of the Wisconsin Woodchucks is selling the Northwoods League baseball team.
Clark Eckhoff has owned the team for 13 years and says it's time to do something else. He's selling the team to Mark Macdonald of Manhattan Beach, Calif. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Recent expansion teams in the wood-bat league for college players have sold for $250,000 to $500,000.
The 53-year-old Macdonald says he has no intention of moving the team. Macdonald is familiar with Wisconsin because his family owns a golf course and restaurant in North Bend. Macdonald says he and his wife will move to Wausau.
The Wausau Daily Herald says the Woodchucks won league championships in 2001 and 2003 and sent 11 players to the major leagues.
