EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -

On a cold, rainy day at Carson Park, the UW-La Crosse football team lost 24-9 to rival UW-Eau Claire. La Crosse fell to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Eau Claire scored on its opening possession en route to a 17-3 halftime lead. With 4:20 left in the third, Eagles quarterback Andy Sires scored on a one-yard touchdown run to make it 17-9. But the Blugolds sealed it early in the fourth, as Joel Sweeney scored on a six-yard run.

Sires finished 15-of-30 passing for 124 yards and an interception.

"It's been a theme all year, that we're not executing," Sires said. "We got good looks and we just have to have all eleven guys doing their jobs at once."

"We're going to bounce back next week and we're going to get it back," said running back Jared Stan.
