LA CROSSE, Wis. -

The Central girls basketball team, one of two remaining unbeatens in MVC Conference play, is dominant this season on both sides of the ball.

The Red Raiders lead the league in defense, allowing only 30 points per game. On offense, they're led by two junior guards, two twin sisters: Brooke and Brittany Baldwin.

"We go as they go," said Central coach Nahmie George. "They're so quick and athletic and can get to the basket. Brittany gets to the basket pretty much at will and Brooke has really developed an outside jumpshot, and that's really made teams have to respect us on the perimeter.

"They have a little bit of that twin telepathy and they make passes to each other that I don't think they could complete to any other girl.  They've played together for so long, so hopefully the twins can keep up and keep doing what they've been doing."

The Baldwin sisters and their team have a big couple of days ahead.

The Red Raiders host city rival Logan Thursday night. Saturday, they face Onalaska in the third of four games of the MVC Showcase at Viterbo.

At 1:30, Tomah takes on Winona Cotter in non-confference action. At 3:30, Sparta faces Logan in a matchup of the 2011 co-conference champions. Onalaska and Central meet at 5:30, and the top two scoring teams in the league, Holmen and Aquinas, play at 7:30.

All proceeds go to scholarships for MVC Conference Schools.
