Boys Basketball: Onalaska 50, La Crosse Central 32

Onalaska senior Ben Skogen came off the bench and hit possibly the two biggest baskets of the game. His two three-pointers right before the half gave the Hilltoppers some breathing room as they went into the break with a 21-12 lead.

That nine-point deficit would be as close as Central would get the entire second half. Onalaska's Matt Thomas took over in the third quarter scoring 11 points after being held to just a basket in the first half.

"We wanted to try to take care of business and get the job done here and from now on, it all starts over. We'll enjoy this tonight and tomorrow we'll get back to work," says Thomas who finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

With the win Onalaska clinches the MVC championship outright with an 11-1 record. The number-one ranked team in Division 2 opens up the WIAA playoffs a week from Friday against either Menomonie or New Richmond.

Sawyer Smith was the leading scorer for Central with 7 points. Playoffs also open up for the number-four ranked Red Raiders a week from Friday versus La Crosse Logan or Ashland.

Bronson Koenig drops in 29 points for Aquinas in their regular season finale. With the win the Blugolds finish 10-2 in the MVC, good for second place in the standings.

Girls Basketball: West Salem 44, Westby 41 F/OT

West Salem freshman Jillie Olson hit three-pointer in the final minute of overtime to put the Panthers up 42-41. Olson then sealed the win with a pair of free throws to keep her team alive as they try to track down Arcadia in the Coulee Conference championship chase.

Boys Hockey: Onalaska 5, Tomah 0

Ryan Aschenbrenner scores a hat trick for Onalaska as they capture the WIAA Regional Championship. The two teams split their two regular season meetings, each winning by one on their home ice.

Taylor Trapp scores the game-winning goal for West Salem in overtime. The win sets up a Sectional Semifinal matchup between the Panthers and Onalaska on Tuesday night.

Girls Hockey: Onalaska co-op 15, Viroqua co-op 0

11 different Hilltoppers score goals in their opening game of the postseason. Onalaska advances to the Sectional Semifinal on Tuesday to face the winner of Friday's game between Black River Falls and Sun Prairie.
