Logan's Williams verbally commits to Sacred Heart
La Crosse Logan's Adaysha Williams says it's always been her dream to play college basketball at the Division one level. Thanks to Sacred Heart University, Williams will get to accomplish that huge goal. "Just really excited that I'm going to be able to play Division one. It's always been my dream to be able to fulfill that."
Williams gives her verbal commitment to play for the Pioneers, less than a week after the school offered her a full ride scholarship. The soon to be senior Logan guard says Sacred Heart was the first NCAA Division I school to make a scholarship offer to her.
"Last week I went out to visit Sacred Heart and Lehigh. Sacred Heart was the first campus and I could feel the energy and it just felt like I could go there for the next four years of my life."
Sacred Heart began courting Williams around two years ago. The Pioneers are coming off a season in which they won the Northeast Conference Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
"They have a winning program. They like to play the way I play - uptempo, defensive minded - it's just the perfect fit."
Williams also says academics played a role in her decision. She enters her senior year with a 4.0 GPA.
Also in the recruiting picture was NCAA Division II Concordia-Saint Paul.
