Hayes signs NHL contract
Will report to San Jose's AHL affiliate
It did not take long for NHL teams to show interest in La Crescent native Eriah Hayes once his college career finished.
Just a few days after losing in the NCAA Tournament, Hayes signed a contract with the San Jose Sharks
"Obviously it feels really great. I don't know if there is a better feeling in the world, kind of sitting back and thinking about it and realizing that I signed an NHL contract. It's a dream come true."
Hayes says San Jose was one of three teams that were extremely interested in his services, with a few more NHL clubs making contact with him. The former Lancer became a free agent when Minnesota State's season came to an end.
"I found that San Jose was the best organization and best fit for me. On Tuesday I signed the deal."
Hayes will immediately report to San Jose's AHL affiliate, the Worcester Sharks, for the remaining nine games left this season.
An All-WCHA Third Team selection in 2012-13, Hayes in his senior year at MSU tallied 20 goals and 16 assists for 36 points.
