It's been a great start of the season for the La Crescent
boys cross country team.
winning a 21-team invite at Stewartville...
and placing first at the meet they hosted last week.
The Lancers didn't graduate anybody off the team after
a sixth place finish at state in 2015.
Head coach Mark Abraham is excited by a group that
is nine-runners deep.
And his front-runners for that group.
defending state champion Zack Emery and Matt Steiger.
It's a real blessing to have two outstanding runners
at the same time because ordinarily if you have one
it's tough for them in training because they have
nobody to train with.
Those two are stride for stride everyday in training
and just that friendly rivalry keeps them going and
they hit their goal times a little bit better when
they've got somebody out there to talk to and work
Really, really looking strong.
This is proabably the strongest our team has ever
And we all want a great state finish.
