GREEN BAY, Wis. - For as prolific of an offense the Packers had last season, it's amazing that the team was still outgained in yardage. Repairing the defense became priority number one this past off-season.

"I don't think our energy was there last season. But you know what? Last season was last season," said Charles Woodson. "What I'm excited about is what we've got going into this season and the guys we have. And I think we've got a lot of youth like we always do. But these guys come in with a lot of energy, a lot of high motors."

"Every rookie class every year is special," said rookie defensive tackle Mike Daniels.

"I want to be that guy, when my time is called, when I'm out there on the field just making as many positive plays as possible and just helping this defense out to be successful," said rookie defensive end Jerel Worthy.

Tackling in the secondary was an issue, something that already is being emphasized at this training camp.

"Tackling is just a mindset, you have some guys who have it, you have some guys you need to work with to get it, you have some guys that just don't have it at all," cornerback Tramon Williams said. "So it is one of those processes that you have to have it in your mind to do it, and I think this defense has it."

The Packers' repair on defense can kind of be looked at like a renovation project, as the new guys will build on a foundation that will return 10 of the 11 starters on defense from the team's last game they played.
