The Coulee Region Chill have relieved Head Coach and General Manager John Hamre of his duties. Assistant Coach A.J. Degenhardt will take over on an interim basis.
"We felt a change and new direction was needed at this point in the season," said the team's owner, Michelle Bryant, in a statement on the NAHL website. "We wish John the best in his future coaching pursuits."
Hamre was in his first season with the Chill. Prior to coming to La Crosse, he was an Associate Head Coach with the NAHL’s Michigan Warriors.
Degenhardt, a La Crosse Logan High School graduate, will serve as the team's interim head coach for the remainder of the 2012-13 season. A decision on a permanent head coach will be made at a later date, according to the release.
Degenhardt won the 2006 Men's Hockey National Championship with the Wisconsin Badgers.
