MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -

Caledonia's Levi Schmitz hit a 24-yard field goal as time expired for a 25-22 victory over Moose Lake/Willow River in the MSHSL Class 2A state championship game.

For the Warriors, it appeared that all momentum was lost. A Tony Adamczak to Isaac Coil 84-yard touchdown in the third quarter gave the Rebels a 22-15 lead late in the third quarter.

A 16-play Caledonia drive with about seven minutes to play appeared to be promising. However a 4th-and-goal run by Alex Varney fell two yards short of the endzone.

But the tide turned just three plays later for the Warriors. Adamczak's throw from the endzone was deflected and fell right into the arms of Varney who took it back 14-yards for the game tying score.

That set the stage for the late game dramatics. After a Rebels punt, Caledonia marched the ball down to the seven yard line with just one second left. Schmitz's game winner left no doubt from the second the ball came off his foot that Caledonia would once again be celebrating.

Caledonia has now won three straight state championships, and five of the last six state titles.
