The Colorado Avalanche acquired right wing Steve Downie from the Tampa Bay Lightning as part of a three-team deal that sent defenseman Kyle Quincey to the Detroit Red Wings.

Tampa Bay received Quincey in exchange for Downie and turned around and shipped the blue-liner to the Red Wings in exchange for a first-round draft pick and minor league defenseman Sebastien Piche.

Downie had 12 goals and 16 assists in 55 games with the Lightning this season. He had a career-high 22 goals and 46 points in the 2009-10 season.

Quincey, in his third season with Colorado, had five goals and 18 assists in 54 games. He was a fourth-round draft pick of Detroit in 2003 and appeared in 13 regular-season games and 13 postseason games in three seasons.
