Nine boys basketball teams are still alive from our area, with a few regional finals still to be played Monday night.
In Thursday's Div. 3 sectional semifinal, Aquinas and G.E.T. will play for the second time this year. The two teams met Dec. 29 at Aquinas, when the Blugolds won 57-54.
"G.ET. is well coached and they got some kids that can shoot the rock, so that's always a little scary, when you're going against kids that can shoot the ball," Aquinas Head Coach Rick Schneider said.
"Aquinas is a great basketball team," said G.E.T. Head Coach Mark Wagner. "There's not many weaknesses in that team. We'll have to go out and play a great basketball game on Thursday."
Aquinas held a sizable lead in the first meeting, but Redhawks senior Tim Wagner scored 24 points, including a late 3-pointer, to make the game close.
"You can even get a lead on them early and that hapened the last time we played them and they shot their way back," Schneider said.
Thursday's game will be played at Osseo-Fairchild.
"We're looking forward to another opportunity to get another chance at them," Wagner said. "We'll see what happens. We'll roll the dice."
