We're just a little under 24-hours away from kickoff
to Week 4 of the high school football season.
Former Aquinas head coach Dan Coughlin gives his thoughts
on a couple of three-and-oh teams in the M-V-C.
Onalaska victorious in the big game last week, down
21-nothing and putting up 43 unanswered versus Holmen.
Earlier this year they put up 40 in one quarter.
So if you've got that kind of firepower it's difficult
to deal with for sure.
It's one thing when they had that big quarter like
they had against a Nekoosa, but do do something like
that against a team that's always been at the top
of the standings in Holmen.
Certainly one of the contenders for sure.
That's a big deal.
They've got some tough games down the road but they
have to be pretty pleased with themselves for sure.
Looking ahead to this Friday night's big game in the
MVC, Sparta hosts Logan, both teams off to one-and-oh
starts in conference.
For Sparta it's the first time they've been three-and-oh
since 1978 or something so this is a pretty big deal.
I've seen Sparta play a couple of times.
I'm very impressed, they can run the football and
they can throw the football.
I've been really impressed with their quarterback
so this is going to be a big test, I think they are
going to be right in the mix.
And you bring up, they're three and oh but when we
talk about pernial teams in the conference Logan is
another one of them.
It's a whole other story.
Some teams just know how to play, they get under pressure
and they know how to handle the pressure.
This is going to be a big test for Sparta because
they will be pressured in this game and we'll see.
I know they've got 26 seniors on their team so that's
a big plus, they've been down the road before.
It'll be a very interesting game to see early in the
season how things might shake out in the MVC.
