Viroqua turned it on just at the right time.
The team admits it struggled at the end of the regular
season....as they lost three of their final five games.
It even took them nine-innings to get past G-E-T in
their opening playoff game.
But since then.
the Blackhawks have been on a roll.
FIRST STATE APPEARANCE SINCE 1985
The Coulee Conference champions shut out two teams
on their way to the WIAA state tournament.
One of those games came against an Ellsworth team
that beat them at sectionals last season.
From losing to them and being able to beat them this
year to get back there.
For all of us, that was a big game and it was great
for all of us to beat them.
We feel we have a really good shot to win.
Obviously not trying to overlook any teams but we
feel this is our year to finally do it.
And we're trying to.
Good group of guys, really old, lot of experience,
playing together forever.
We're all just really good friends.
From a medical scare....to his first trip as head
coach to the W-I-A-A state tournament....it's been
some year for Pete Swanson.
We'll have that story tomorrow.
Viroqua faces Ripon in the Division two semifinal.
That game will be played around on Wednesday night.
Ithaca is a state qualifer in Division four.
They are the second game up on Wednesday morning...game
versus McDonell Central will begin around .
