At one point yesterday .
there was talk of championship saturday .
turning into championship sunday.
the storms held off .
and the cloudy skies didn't damper the day for some
repeat winners from our area.
It's somewhat rare
To see a repeat relay winner .
never mind a three-peat.
The Logan girls 800 meter relay dominates for a 3-rd
The team is made up of juniors Chloe Malin and Tore
and sophomores Kammesha Thomas and Ashley Sprain.
Washa and Malin have been on the team all three years.
Freshman year .
they ran with Imani Paul and Amber Sorenson .
who was there to celebrate with them yesterday.
Malin We've been pushed our first two years by Amber
and Imani and then we gotta take over the leadership
role when they graduated.
Sprain We work hard and put all our efforts in at
practice and we just have great coaches to get us
They always tell us there's a reason for the madness
and we just trust in them because they know what to
do and they've always known what to do and we just
put all our trust with them and they get us here.
A tradition in that relay now at Logan .
and all four are back next year.
Mel-Min's Alex Hatlevig is not .
but he leaves a lasting legacy in the sprints.
The senior wins gold in the 100 again .
then gold in the 200 .
The repeat has been his goal all season.
This whole year, just been working up to this day.
Haven't been watching any times online because I try
to stay away from that to keep the pressure off myself
but just know my time's been up there, just trying
to pull it off, end up getting it.
We also have a repeat winner in the field.
Cashton's Betsy Schreier defends her title in the
35 feet .
11-point-7-5 inches .
her best jump.
Congratulations to all our local athletes for a strong
showing at the W-I-A-A State Track and Field Meet.
