U-W-L's schedule eases up a bit after
taking on two top-ten teams last week.
Eagles tonight hosting Oshkosh.
Early in the first .
Clint Rihn gets it inside to Lucas Collom
who spins to the basket and lays it in.
Collom leads all scorers with 22.
End of the half...Connor De Bruin and Calahan
Skogman working together for the pick and roll.
Skogman steps back and nails the three.
Eagles trail 38-24 at the half.
But U-W-L rallies...Skogman hits two free throws
with six-seconds to go...Eagles win by one.
And the U-W-L women upset the number-15
team in the nation in overtime...Maggi Bishop

Viterbo hosting Mount Mercy...both
teams two-and-three in the M-C-C.
First half .
Alex Diciaula dribbling up top .
crosses over and finds Jake Bamke cutting the the basket.
He gets the bucket and the foul.
Viterbo up by five.
Then Matt Turba driving .
kicks it out to Diciaula who nails the wide open three.
V-hawks up 30 to 23.

But Mount Mercy pulls away after that to win 73-51.
Western women lose....Cavalier men win this
evening at home against Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

its first practice of the season Monday.
There are 11 returning players .
including the team's starting shortstop.

she'd be back.
NAT-- Ball Catch
for the team's 1-st day of practice.
Mary Kate I lifted for the first time today
and I could tell how much muscle I truly lost.
Back from a place she never wants to go again.
Mary Kate 55/50 I was looking forward to
sophomore year, then, it all just went crazy.
Starting just four months ago .
on September 17th.
Mary Kate 56/15 I was laying down, turned my head
and all of sudden, and it hit me, this thunderclap.
Worst headache of my life.
BUTT Lost vision, I couldn't see.
My perception was completely gone.
She was rushed to Mayo in Rochester .
and had emergency surgery.
Mary Kate had two brain aneurysms.
Mary Kate 58/55 I just remember them saying
multiple times that they had to warn me
that this was very serious and that I could die.
She was able to pull through one trauma .
only to face another.
Two weeks later .
on the morning she was supposed to leave the hospital .
Mary Kate had emergency surgery again.
This time .
to repair a perforated bowel.
Mary Kate 3/47 That could have killed me just
as much as the brain aneurism could have killed me.
NAT BALL IN GLOVE
Mary Kate 4/28 That kind of sent me over the edge.
That's when I kind of went downhill and
was like, what more is going to happen?
But Mary Kate is a competitor at heart.

Three months later .
here she is .
back for the first day of practice.
Helixon 44/33 It certainly put a
lot of things into perspective for us.
Mary Kate 5/45 It was definitely a eye opener and made
me realize all these things that we all take for granted.
Mary Kate 8/05 I'm anticipating this season to
mean even more to me, just because of
how quickly it could have been taken away.
In La Crosse .
Mary Kate lost more than 25 pounds while in the hospital.
She's still dealing with headaches and stomach issues .
but says in perspective .
those are just tiny things to be putting-up with.
