Caledonia not only entered the day riding a 26-game
They have dominated opponents from start to finish
over the past couple of years.
where falling behind in a game is just something that
does not happen.
Which made for an interesting moment today.
Number-one in the state Caledonia and number-two ranked
Class two-A state semifinal game.
Score tied at seven in the second quarter.
Caleb Stetz to Connor John.
Caledonia trails for the first time this season.
It doesn't last long.
Owen King and Andrew Goergen play a little bit of
Goergen finishes with 3 T-D's and 111 yards.
Warriors take back the lead.
Later in the second.
three touchdowns and 95 yards rushing for him.
Down 13-7 early in the second quarter.
Caledonia up 41-13 at the half.
3rd quarter King to Jordan Burg.
Warriors score 48-unanswered.
Caledonia advances to the state finals next Friday
with the 55-20 win.
With more, we go back live to Minneapolis with News
8's Charlie Clifford.
Barnesville hung around for a good quarter and a half.
That is an eternity when you look back at what Caledonia
has accomplished over the past two years.
Quarterback Owen King told me earlier this week --
the Warriors biggest worry was Barnesville's size.
The Man Child Ezekiel Ott and the defense divyed out
some bone crushing hits.
Force five turnovers.
King, Ben McCabe and Andrew Goregon handle the track
meet on offense.
And by halftime -- you forgot Caledonia actually trailed
by 13-7 earlier in the second quarter.
??Can you guys remember the last time you were losing
in a football game??"
I haven't ever been down before in a football game
as a starter at quarterback.
I am just proud of the way we got it back and got
We know we are not always going to be up, so we talk
a lot about it.
We do a lot of mental thinking.
how we are going to handle it.
Couldn't be prouder.
Just remembered everything we had been practicing
for...What we were fighting for and just calm down
and take a deep breath and know what you are going
We plan every week to play a good game, play a close
game so we were ready for it.
?? What do you think about Eden Valley-Watkins in
the prep bowl??"
You know we played them in 2005 so.
we are looking forward to it.
If that smirk from Carl Fruechte doesn't scare you.
you are tougher than I am.
Do you think he forgot about the 2005 state title
loss to Eden Valley-Watkins the team Caledonia sees
again next week??
Not a chance.
What a day to set up what should be an amazing Friday
Caledonia plays for the Class two-A state title at
Followed by Winona playing for the four-A state title
Back to you Gregg.
