Neither Onalaska nor West Salem dominated the preseason
talk in the M-V-C.
but they'll play for the conference championship on
the final week of the regular season.
Dan Coughlin gives his thoughts on this week's Ground
Let's discuss more this big West Salem versus Onalaska
If this was Week 4, probably not a whole big deal
made about this contest.
But the schedule makers did an excellent job and it
comes down to this.
If you can get a ticket for this game and you like
high school football, I would go.
On paper this should be a great game.
And like we've said, Week 3 or Week 4 we talked about
these teams but as it played out these two teams are
going to play for the championship and they couldn't
be more different in style.
West Salem gives up an average of 9 points per game
and Onalaska scored on average of 43 points per game.
West Salem gives up 154 yards per game in total offense
and Onalaska averages 490 total yards per game.
So it's going to be a very interesting game.
With numbers like that, what do you feel is a possible
key that will tip the scale in this game?
Special teams could be an important thing.
If you make a mistake it could be an important thing.
My guess is that West Salem is going to want to come
in and play ball control offense and keep the ball
out of Onalaska's hands as much as possible.
Undoubtedly they're going to try to scheme on defense
to make sure these receivers have different looks
and that the quarterback has different looks.
And Onalaska will go in and try to score points, that's
what I would do.
Playoffs begin one week from this Friday, brackets
come out this Saturday.
Coach will join us next week to talk all about those.
