LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

Dr. Daniel Schraith, a pathologist from Gundersen Health System, gave an anatomy and physiology lesson at Lincoln Middle School in La Crosse, including a real kidney, lung, and tissue.

The students were able to see and touch the organs. Seventh grader Alexis Compan said this lesson was much better than reading out of a textbook.

"I think it's way better to see him up front talking to us and not just seeing the video, because we can certainly ask questions,” Compan said.

“Today’s demonstration allowed the students to see up close  the organs’ anatomy, or structure, which helps us better understand their physiology, or function," Dr. Schraith siad. "Based on the reaction and interest shown by the students today, I believe it was a successful lesson.”

Monday’s lesson included how cancer and other infections spread through the body.
