A kitchen served as a classroom Tuesday for some La Crosse middle school students.
The Cooking Club at Lincoln Middle School baked hundreds of pies. All of them will be enjoyed next week at the La Crosse Community Thanksgiving Dinner.
It's something the school has been doing for at least 20 years, and every year it gives the students a challenge. "The hardest part about making a pie is probably focusing all the time, because you have to make sure it doesn't burn and it's not cooked, or not cooked not right or anything, it's probably just getting it perfect," said 6th grader Enya Szymanski.
The students baked about 450 pies.
The La Crosse Community Thanksgiving Dinner is next Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the La Crosse Center. There's also a worship service before the meal at 10:30 a.m.
Organizers are looking for volunteers and donations.
