La Crosse School Dist. gets grant to educate students about drugs & alcohol
The La Crosse School District now has some help to educate its students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
The school district received a $25,000 grant from the Wisconsin Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Program. It will be used to help fund about a dozen learning projects throughout all grade levels.
The school district says the grant is just one tool to encourage students to become productive citizens. "We do feel that it's important to educate the whole child not just the reading, writing, math, the arts, core subjects. We really feel that we want to be a partner with our parents and with our community in terms of offering children education in every area that we can," said Regina Siegel with the district.
The Holmen School District received nearly $20,000. Black River Falls received $13,000.
