Some area students took advantage of their day off from school Monday.
The Mississippi Valley Conservancy and the EcoPark in La Crosse gave students a chance to spend their day both indoors and out. It was all part of Winter Eco Explorer Day.
Students got the chance to play games, do crafts, and try snow showing. The purpose of the day was to get kids interested in the outdoors.
Organizers say it's a great way to teach children about nature. "Studies show that you know getting outdoors is great for lots of things emotional, emotional issues and also just getting away from the TV and the computer every once in awhile," said EcoPark Education Coordinator Stephanie Hanna.
Event leaders hope to make this an annual event.
