Voters in the Rushford-Peterson School District voted down a referendum Wednesday to build a new school. The building would've housed early childhood through 5th grade.
The district says the Board of Education has been getting input on the direction of its schools since the major flood in 2007. They say for years they've been unsuccessful in seeking alternative funding sources. That's why they say they decided to go to voters with a referendum.
The vote totals were as follow: 993 No (60.15%) to 658 Yes (39.85%).
