Close to 750 area educators are meeting at the La Crosse Center today for the Western Wisconsin Education Conference.
The theme this year is "Educating the Whole Child."
Teachers will hear about strategies on how to successfully educate students who have at-risk behavior, even if you have fewer resources to get it done. They'll also discuess the best ways to integrate the new common core standards of learning.
"We've really tried to increase rigor with the new common core standards coming out," said Katie Gudgeon, incoming president of the WWEC Board. "It's been a roll out and it's really building up our academic rigor. We're teaching the kids more. The expectations are higher for learning, across the board, every subject."
