Central High School Senior Devin Edge has been named a one of the nation’s 2013 Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Edge is the only student in the School District of La Crosse receiving this honor. She is one of about 34,000 students throughout the country recognized for her academic achievement.

Students are selected based on test scores, an essay, their schools’ curricula and school official recommendations, as well as involvement in activities and leadership.

“Devin is an outstanding student who embraces a challenging course load while continuing to be involved in music, athletics and student activities,” Central High School Principal Jeff Fleig said in a statement.
