A new addition at a Sparta school is teaching students
important life skills.

The Sparta School District is offering a new twist
on teaching trust and confidence.

Middle School is easy.

The course offers several different challenges including
this rope web.
Here's what's going to make it hard.
The entire spiderweb is electrocuted and so you're
not supposed to touch any of cords.
And you have to try and get everyone else on the other
It's a task that requires team work and trust.
Having the ability to not just work with your friend.
To work with and support all of your classmates.
They can take those valuable lessons and experiences
and take them back into the school and carry that
throughout the year to help them in all activities.
Including relationship building.
I think it's really fun because usually when you walk
down a hallway you're just talking to one of your
But now you can walk down a hallway and talk to everyone.
It is confidence gained by middle schoolers who have
learned the ropes.

ACThe Meadowview Middle School ropes course was installed
The 30-thousand dollar project was paid for by a grant
from the Sparta Public Education Foundation, private
donations and district funds.
All of the physical education teachers in the district
were trained on the equipment.
The hope is for the course to be used by students
in grades K through 12.
