A bike safety organization teamed up with area physicians Saturday morning to promote pedestrian safety.

The Wisconsin Bike Fed joined area doctors for the second annual 'Walk With a Doc' event.

The walk promotes healthy living while raising awareness among drivers to yield at all marked and unmarked crosswalks.

Doctors from Mayo Health System and Gundersen joined walkers as they explored local trails.

Organizers say it's important for drivers to obey traffic laws.

"It's really important for people to be able to get out and walk and enjoy the community. We know that the more people that are out walking, the safer it is. We really want drivers to just be aware of people out walking and watch for them so people can feel comfortable doing that," Southwest Director of the Wisconsin Bike Fed, Carolyn Dvorak, said.

The walk began at Riverside Park and walkers traveled through several neighborhoods before returning back to the park.
