Winona State University is welcoming the cold weather with its 8th annual Frozen River Film Festival. However, you won't see any romantic comedies at this event.
The campus festival works to inform and educate the general public on world issues and current events.
Amateur film makers present their documentaries hoping to give audiences an alternative view on a variety of topics. "This year, we have about 40 to 50 films and they focus on different themes like environment, world culture, extreme sports," said the festival's Asst. Director Kathy Florin.
The film festival runs Friday through Sunday.
Tickets can be purchased at the box office at Chapter Two Books in Winona.
