WHITEHALL, Wis. (WKBT) -

According to the Whitehall Sheriff's Department, the student who brought an unloaded gun to Whitehall High School appeared in court Wednesday.

The juvenile is facing charges of disorderly conduct, possession of a firearm on school property, and intentionally pointing a firearm.

According to the updated press release from the School District, the handgun was pointed at one student in a locker room Thursday evening in an alleged attempt to “mess with him."

The firearm was “dry fired” twice although the direction it was being pointed in is still being verified.

The release states regardless of intent or whether or not ammunition was present these situations will not be tolerated in any manner and will not impact the district's handling of the situation.

The student has been suspended from school pending a hearing for permanent expulsion from The Whitehall School District.
